ICC elects new chairman and vice-chairman
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has elected a new chairman and vice-chairman at its World Council in Stockholm.
Victor Fung, chairman of the Li & Fung trading group, will become the first ICC chairman from Hong Kong, taking over for a two-year tenure on 1 July 2008 after serving as vice-chairman for 18 months.
Fung says that he wants to raise the profile of the ICC in Asia/Pacific and to support “the multilateral trading system”.
At the same time, Rajat Kumar Gupta, senior partner emeritus at McKinsey & Company, has been elected vice-chairman. Gupta is a ‘career consultant’, joining the firm in 1973 and rising to managing director worldwide in 1994.
Current ICC chairman Marcus Wallenberg, chairman of banking group SEB, Saab and Electrolux, will become honorary chairman.
