Trading places at the top for Santander
Jorge Tapia has taken over from Federico Papa as Global Head of Trade, Export and Commodity Finance at Santander Global Banking and Markets, making the step up from Global Head of Trade Finance following Papa’s promotion to Global Transaction Banking (GTB) Head of Europe.
Tapia joined Santander in 1995, spending 11 years rising up through the ranks in the Market Risk department – where he was promoted to Global Head of Wholesale Banking Risk Control – before moving over to corporate and investment banking as part of the global banking and markets team.
In his new role, Papa will be responsible for all Santander’s cash management, trade, export and commodity finance across the world, and all trade lending with the exception of structured finance and syndications.
