The Italian export credit agency, SACE, has appointed Dave Chalila as heads of its African business.

Chalila will be responsible for the export credit agency’s operations in sub-Saharan Africa, including business development and client relationships.

He joins SACE from the IFC where he was responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of trade and supply chain finance business with banks and corporate across various sectors in sub-Saharan Africa.

Chalila has good international banking experience, having held a range of roles in client relationship management, trade finance, risk management and product development throughout his career.

He will be based in Johannesburg and will also oversee the activities of SACE’s operational branch in Nairobi.

SACE’s remit was extended in 2007, giving it the ability to support foreign businesses without the involvement of Italian banks or exporters, as long as the activity supports Italy’s wider strategic goals.
